Process Furnaces

Industrial furnaces are classified in two categories of direct or indirect. Furnaces are used as process fluid heating devices. In terms of appearance, furnaces used in refineries and petrochemicals can be found in two different general forms:

  • Box furnaces
  • Cylindrical furnaces

The heat required for process fluid heating is produced by the combustion of gas or liquid fuels in the Firebox area. Firebox is the main compartment of the furnace and is located near the burners. Radiant tubes are also located in the same chamber and they are placed in such a way that they are in direct contact with the burner flame. The combustion gases then enter another chamber above the furnace, which is called the convection chamber. The tubes of this area are not in direct contact with the burners flame. The wall, roof and floor of the furnace are covered by refractory insulation. Among the most important types of these insulations, we can mention firebricks, castable and ceramic fiber coatings. In order to prevent the risk of furnace explosion in critical conditions, explosion doors are placed around the furnace. In case of explosion, these valves are easily opened and the pressure inside the furnace is released. Draft is a small pressure difference between the inside and outside of the furnace, which causes the combustion gases to escape in the furnace Different types of draft are as follows:

  • Natural draft
  • Forced draft
  • Induced draft
  • Balanced draft

Natural and forced draft are most widely used in furnaces in refineries and petrochemical plants. Chaman Engineering and Fabrication Company is the first Iranian designer and manufacturer of process furnaces in Iran in oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Chaman company has experiences in designing, manufacturing and operating direct fired heaters, especially based on API 560 and ISO13705. Chaman, as a knowledge-based company, has outstanding specialists in the field of designing and manufacturing process furnaces, and with the full support of its engineering knowledge and factory facilities located in Kaveh Industrial Town in Saveh city, it produces a variety of process furnaces for the oil industry. and has designed, built and operated gas. Engineering, manufacturing, and after-sales services, as well as optimal customer satisfaction, enabled this company to be included in most of the approved lists of sellers (AVL) of the Ministry of Oil of Iran and its subsidiaries, consultants, and general contractors.
